.:
direct access scheme
The Direct Access Scheme was introduced in
1997. This scheme allows riders over the age of 21 to train
and apply for a full motorcycle test, therefore missing out
the two year restriction that would occur when passing the
test on a 125cc bike.
Learners 21 years of age or over may practice for the full
motorcycle test, they may ride any motorcycle on the road
which exceeds the UK learner specification (125cc), however,
only when accommpanied by an DAS approved motorcycle instructor.
The full motorcycle test may only be taken by riders aged
21 or over and completed on a motorcycle of at least 35kW
(47bhp). When this test is passed the rider can immediately
ride any size motorcycle without any learner restrictions. |
